No matter what country you belong to, the moment you pass out of high school/intermediate, people will ask which universities you are considering pursuing your degree in. The reason behind this is the reputation these institutions hold in society. But do you know that behind this polished image, there are some inconvenient truths that many institutions don’t want you to know? One of the things that almost every institution lies about is the actual cost of overall education. These universities vanish money out of your pocket without making you even realise it. And you might have noticed that most universities don’t talk about expenses of textbooks, lab fees, technology requirements, and everyday living expenses.

You would have seen those university billboards on highways or online advertisements highlighting high graduation rates and successful employment outcomes. But when you dig a little bit deeper, you will realise that the reality of many universities is quite different from those ads. Additionally, the mentioned stats of employment outcomes often include all students who started a program, including those who transfer or drop out. Also the employment rates you see might not be true as they highlight only the bright side hiding the account for the dark side which is underemployment or jobs unrelated to a student’s field of study.

Almost every time you might have seen universities promoting their extensive student services, but do they stay up to the mark? We doubt that as in many universities, these services can be overstated or underfunded. Not all but many universities hide the actual cost of overall graduation, graduation rates and employment outcomes, and are unable to provide services/support as promised. Also, many of them try to just show the brighter side of campus culture and social dynamics as their primary focus to increase revenue as much as possible.
